Two amazing interns

✨ This month, our lab is thrilled to host two amazing interns!

🧪 Ana Silva, a 2nd-year Biochemistry student from the University of Coimbra (center in the photo), is joining us as part of the university’s summer internship program.
🌍 Daniela Brondani, a medical student from the Catolic University of Goiás (Brazil) (second from the right in the photo), is with us through the prestigious SCORE program by IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations).

Under the guidance of Henrique Alves, Inês Sousa, and Daniela Patrício, they are diving into the fascinating world of vision science — learning genome editing techniques and the differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into retinal organoids. 🧬👁️

All of this is part of an innovative project focused on studying and developing therapies for retinitis pigmentosa caused by mutations in the EYS gene. ✨
